QuickHot: smart heating with an iOS companion
Arduino-based smart heating and ventilation system with an iOS companion app — climate control without a smart-home subscription.

About the project
QuickHot is a smart climate system that lives inside the heater, not in someone else's cloud. Arduino-controlled hardware handles heating and ventilation; an iOS companion app (with a React Native counterpart) gives the resident schedules, overrides, and state. The system is the product — no subscription, no opaque integrations.
Challenge
Build a smart climate system honest enough to live with. That meant firmware that didn't drift, an app that worked offline, and a hardware-to-phone boundary that didn't need a cloud middleman to function.
Solution
- 01Designed the Arduino firmware controlling heating and ventilation
- 02Built the iOS app in Swift for the primary user experience
- 03Built the cross-platform companion in React Native
- 04Defined the local-first communication model between hardware and phone
Results
- →Shipped a working hardware + iOS + cross-platform system
- →Delivered scheduling, overrides, and state without a cloud dependency
- →Produced a reusable pattern for local-first home IoT
